From 2012 to 2018 CBSE was conducting both JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. As of now NTA will conduct only JEE Mains.

Q: What is JEE Main?

Ans: JEE Main is the All India Engineering Entrance Examination which is applicable for admission into National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) and Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI). National Testing Agency has got the responsibility to conduct JEE Main. From 2019 JEE Main will be conducted twice in a year.

Q: What is JEE Main Score?

Ans: In JEE Main there are 90 questions from three subjects that is Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Total mark is 90 X 4 = 360 marks. Out of 360 total mark scored by the candidate is the JEE Main score of that candidate.

Q: What is JEE Main rank?

Ans: JEE Main rank is calculated from JEE Main score. If two or more candidates have a tie in total mark then candidate with more marks in Mathematics will have better rank. If there is also a tie in Mathematics then Physics will be considered for ranking the students.

Q: Is there any change in Exam pattern after NTA take over?

Ans: One change has already being announced. The Engineering Entrance Examination will be conducted in Online Mode. The tests will be computer based tests. No change in question pattern, marking pattern, and syllabus.

Q: Is there any advantage of NTA taking over the entire exam process?

Ans: Main advantage is NTA will only focus only on entrance exam. This is essential to improve the quality of examination. Another advantage is exam will be conducted twice in a year.
